Of my many pens, 2 have cracked from stress. The jinhao 82 and asvine v126. Both at their top finals and at their cap too. Which I suspect is due to over tightening of their screws. I live in a humid environment, that may be a factor of consideration as the capillary action of moisture could potentially expand inside the threads of those pens. Thankfully I could source a replacement cap for v126. The jinhao 82, not so much.

It is plastic.

I love the name of this ink. They went really simple just calling it 'really/ultra black', but chou is also a homophone with both the word used for a head of a section and the word for a government office which of course goes nicely with the archival status of this ink.

It takes ballpoint pens really well.

I had no idea there were any fountain pen makers in Australia. In less than a year from a time with no fountain pens, I have pens that have been made in Germany, Japan, the USA, and have 3 from England (The Good Blue) and 3 from Scotland (if that's where Namisu makes them) are on the way. I hope I can one day afford this Model 20 as my first Australian pen. The color and pattern on your model here is fantastic.

Hi Mick, what's going yo happen when you run out of 2016-Dark Lilac? I think Diamine inks have some pretty good purples that aren't the same, maybe those Diamine run close (but no cigar), however, those purples in their own right are beautiful inks. We as pen and ink nerds give too much praise to 2016-DL when we should be exploring and loving other inks that are just as beautiful in my mind. Sorry for the rambles, I just love Imperial Purple in my wet and broad-ish medium nib Visconti Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee, great combination. Chels

I just bought the Black. My Aurora Black is almost gone. It has been a very consistent ink but have decided to try Lamy. It seems darker. The price is also quite good.

From these, I have the Diplomat A2 and the Lamy 2000. Both are good but the A2 I find just far more enjoyable to write with. The slip cap is perhaps the best of any pen anywhere.

I am loving the Midori MD product line. I have the A4 Light grid notebooks, the A5 dot grid journal, the A6 lined notebooks, and the A7 sticky notes in all the available guide formats. They are just begging for your personalization, everything from the cardstock covers that you can draw on, to the provided stickers that you can write on. I did run into an issue when I first got them, which was that my fountain pen inks were taking forever to dry on them. I had Lamy and Noodlers Black, just sitting wet on the sheet for like half an hour. I switched over to Sailor 027 black ink, problem solved.

Ink is my kryptonite...and all the things you enumerated 😅❤

Pilot makes terrible converters also. Platinum makes a GREAT converter so the other guys have no excuse.

Good choices, Mick. What about Ancient Copper. I have three of your choices. What I like about Diamine inks is the large capacity and very affordable.

Fabulous and amazing fountain pen. Twist filler pens are not new, as a few vintage brands of the early 1900s were twist fillers, only they had a hooked bar that would wrap around a standard sac , then released it would fill completely. Thanks for a great video, as always.

Very interesting system. It reminds me of a sponge by twisting it right and releasing it drAws the fluid in. I wonder how much ink it will hold.

Wait, how is this 110 Australian dollars?! 😮 isn’t it just 50usd? Which is about 75aud? Are they charging for extra import fees and stuff? 110aud is an absurd price for this!!! That’s not ok 😢

That hybrid material implementation is GENIUS. One thing I would wonder though - how "sealed" is the wood component from potential for staining? I ask as I have a Waterman Le Man 100 briar wood fountain pen and I will never fill it from converter due to the staining risk for the grip (the wood is exposed not sealed). When I lived in Australia I never ever saw anything like this - The Pen Shoppe in Brisbane should absolutely stock this (they were my drug dealer of choice when I lived there).

Gravitas Pens is a scam. Ordered mine 4 month ago and still waiting.

Absolutely awesome looking pen with that exquisitely artisanal workmanship and gorgeous colors, lovely art, and glossy, seemingly flawless finish. And there’s more: the section is adequately thick and doesn’t have an exaggerated step-down, a Bock nib (instead of Jowo) and apparently a very sweet writer. And like that it’s clip-less. I have no complaint about the price either. And I reckon I’d even like to get this pen. I’ll ask and find out soon. Thanks for the show and tell, Mick. It was a treat!

The pen is beautiful, and with that high polish, it looks like it must have a marvelous tactile feel as well. Truly a masterpiece!

I have the same pen/ink combo except with a medium nib. Nice juicy writer 👍

Shin-kai is definitely my favourite iroshizuku. It has understated elegance that doesn't really stand out too much and is office safe, but still unique with lovely shading and the colour is different enough compared to your standard blue ink :)

I only own the four I liked best: Tsuki-yo, Yama-budo, Syo-ro, and Yama-guri. Chiku-rin interests me anew. I really might get it soon.

Mick great vid. Looking forward to more of your Iroshizuku ink takes. I have 4 of the 5. My following comments are based on a Lamy Safari, a Lamy Al-Star and a Pilot Kakuno. I like Kon-peki but only with a medium nib (both for Safari and Kakuno), however, for blue I prefer Iroshizuku Asa-gao. On Momiji I prefer it with a Lamy Medium or Broad as the red stands out more so than the pink, where as the Lamy fine and especially a Kakuno fine nib displays more pink than red to my eye. Yama-budo and Ku-jaku both are all around winners with all nib sizes, especially the fine nib. You sold me on Chiku-Rin as my only Green ink is Diamine Sherwood Green, a nice dark green - need to add a light green.

Yikes! There's too much going on with this design. Chunky clip, long section; a true ink catcher when filling from an ink bottle. Thanks for the warning.

Sheen is my favourite ink quality. I can live with the impracticalities. There are brands with sheening inks that are better behaved though. For example diamine and wearingeul, and even more brands which have inks with less sheen but also less smudging and such.

The only downside of these pens is the super thin acrylic, one of mine suffered a little accident and a piece of the blind cap was chipped, fortunately some superglue and micromesh solved the issue 😅

This pen was the first Asvine I purchased. It is a wonderful writer with a decent ink capacity. It is also easy to clean. It has a nice weight. The price is also reasonable. What is not to like? I understand Asvine was / is a supplier to Wing Sung for parts.

The Asvine P20 is the ASC Studio + some minor design changes (I bet Asvine produces the Studio for ASC).

I have 3 P20’s. They’re all fantastic. Smooth, consistent nibs.
